A child who eats healthy is an ideal dream for many family physicians and parents. This dream is attainable, especially if you set your mind to it. Understand that any undertaking requires a bit of planning. Although eating healthy may seem difficult at first, all the work will be worth it in the long run.

Eliminate Bad Foods
Begin by eliminating all bad foods from the household. If your child is eating healthy, then the entire family must become a good example. The easiest way to begin is by finding healthy substitutes for unhealthy foods. For example, if you or your child enjoys chocolate ice cream, you may want to switch to frozen yogurts. When eating out, create a list of healthy eating spots. This will become your go-to guide for good and wholesome food when your family feels like going out.

Encourage Healthy Foods
The earliest you begin teaching your child to eat healthy, the easier it is for your child to form good habits.   Explain to your child why eating healthy foods is important and how it is a fun and positive thing. Provide your child with healthy eating options. If you take a rigid approach to eating healthy, your child may want to naturally rebel. Keep eating healthy fun and offer tasty food options. Every once in awhile, your child may want a fast food meal, but only give in sparingly. You may want to save fast food for special occasions, such as birthdays.

Set an Example
Become the example that your child follows. Children are natural mimics and as your child’s role model, so it’s important to take part in healthy eating. By first removing bad foods from the household, you have made eating healthy a household goal. So, avoid eating a hamburger in front of your child and pick up a soy burger instead.
